Fun & Sun Malapascua had the privilege to welcome the finalists of Miss Scuba Singapore and their escort team headed by Desmond Liung for a few days on the island.
We picked them up before sunrise at Cebu Mactan International Airport after a short 3hr30mins flight from Singapore.
The 3 hour journey to the new port of Maya gave them some time to rest and even sleep before the crossing to the island. The weather was nice and everybody enjoyed the ride with the usual pictures taking session in front of the boat.
Gato Island was clearly visible, but with the wind getting stronger the flat sea we were hoping for was definitely not in the program. Our Calanggaman Island plan day trip would have to be postponed. The morning of the first day was all about napping at Fun & Sun LodgeJ. But soon after lunch, it was time to discover the sand bottom of Bantigue Cove.
As the waves started to grow, the launching of the boats from the Bounty Beach was swapped with the northern beach launch option. Looking at the bright side, the little walk across the village of Malapascua was pleasant and definitely a good warm up before the dives.
By the end of their stay, all finalists became certified Scuba Divers with both pool and open water sessions. For sure, this was the start of a new life for all of them. The life of a diver, which Fun & Sun is honored to have participated in a way.
And we will be looking forward to have them back to show them the thresher sharks of Monad Shoal, now that we have tease them well….
